ee cummings, Samuel Aiwaz Jacobs & the Golden Eagle Press

January 9, 2012

Heard of ee cummings but until today not of Samuel Aiwaz Jacobs (1891-1971), who I discover was the poet’s “press agent, personal type setter, and an authority on metaphysical verse”. Not much else about him ‘cept he ran the Golden Eagle Press in the 1920′s, which was based in Mount Vernon, New York. There is a link to the Southern Illinois University Special Collections Research Center, where a collection is kept about his work on a ‘universal alphabet’. Any of my US readers have any other information about Jacobs?

There is a reference to him in a footnote in The Secret Wisdom of 666, by Max Demian (Toronto: Chroniker Press, 2011).
